NM architects, builders got creative at this year's Parade of Playhouses

Usually when Albuquerque's biggest construction companies work on a project, you'll see construction cranes in the sky, but for their latest projects, you might have to look down.

That's because builders like Bradbury Stamm Construction and Franken Construction's latest projects were for New Mexico Appleseed's Parade of Playhouses auction fundraiser, which raised $76,000 for the nonprofit. The Parade of Playhouses event in total raised more than $200,000.

“The money that New Mexico Appleseed was able to raise at this year’s Parade of Playhouses, thanks to the overwhelming support of the community, will directly go toward battling hunger, child maltreatment and family homelessness throughout New Mexico," said Executive Director Jenny Ramo in a statement. "With strong support coming from the business and private sectors, [we] are truly committed, more than ever, to fight toward an end to poverty in our state.”

More than 650 people attended the annual event held in September at the ABQ BioPark Zoo. This year's event also featured for the first time a Parade of Pet Houses.
